Germany's parliament has agreed to increase subsidies next year for four
kinds of renewable energy, overruling Economics Minister Werner Mueller who
had wanted to cut financial support for the sector. The parliamentary budget
committee decided to raise subsidies for solar, thermal, biogas and
geothermal energy to 400 million marks from 300 million in 2001, said a
source from the Green Party yesterday.
